Forgive me, O Great Typosphere...
... for I might have sinned.
My love story with the Smith Corona PWP is detailed in the letter (typed on funky teddy bear paper from the charity shop).
I know that most typospherians eschew electronic machines, so I hope you can find it in your hearts to absolve me.
I'll be back to manual typewriters very soon - have no fear.
Very cool! I think electrics and dedicated word processors are fine - they still inspire distraction - free writing.
ReplyDeleteThanks Joe - distraction free writing is definitely the thing! I also bought an Alphasmart 3000 after watching your youtube review: the pinnacle of distraction free writing, with the option of uploading to a PC to boot!
Deleteabsolved!
ReplyDeleteNice, that's the same Calligraphy font that is highly desired and rare as a Selectric typeball (same company made it, GP)
Thank you for your absolution Ted! I'd never encountered that font before - it's interesting to know that it had a life wider than just the Smith Corona series.
DeleteSure it's a PEWP, but look how well it did the job!
ReplyDeleteI'm showing my ignorance here... but I've never encountered the acronym PEWP before...? But you're right about how well it did the job - this is the typewriter that I keep in my office for filling out the occasional form or addressing the odd envelope - and this font makes it look quirky without being over-the-top.
DeletePEWP = Personal Electronic Word Processor?
ReplyDeleteHmmmm - that makes sense. I don't think my brain had woken up sufficiently this morning to unravel PEWP properly.
